am a professor in the ECE department at Texas A&M
University. I teach and conduct research in the areas of communication
theory, channel coding, information theory and signal processing.
Specific areas include
codes on graphs, iterative decoding, joint source and channel
coding, the interplay between coding and queueing and joint physical
layer and network layer design. I am particularly interested
in applications to wireless communications and digital magnetic
recording. Our research group's web page will give detailed
information about my research
interests, sponsors, students, collaborators, publications, preprints
recent presentations. Please visit our research page.
I am currently the area editor for the coding theory and applications area of the IEEE transactions on communications and I have served on the editorial board of the IEEE transactions on wireless communications and the IEEE communications letters. During the academic year 2004-2005, I held visiting positions at the university of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Insitut Eurecom and the Indian Institute of Science.
I am teaching ECEN 655 Advanced Channel Coding during Fall 2008
