Grading
My goal is to help students understand all of the material covered in class.
I also try to provide early feedback to people who may be having trouble with the class.
Final grades are determined numerically based solely on individual standing, as explained in the course outline.
The Academic Rules website at Texas A&M University, and its section on Grading in particular, discusses possible grades and their respective meaning.
It provides useful information to students.
Academic Integrity Statement
Upon accepting admission to Texas A&M University, individuals immediately assume a commitment to uphold the Honor Code.
You are expected to know and to follow the Aggie Honor Code.
Please think about what the Honor Code means, and let it shape and guide your behavior.
You are referred to the Aggie Honor System Office for more information.
It is the mission of the Aggie Honor System Office to serve as a centralized system established to respond fairly to academic violations of the honor code at Texas A&M University.
Absences
While attendance has little (or no) direct effect on your grade in my courses, I remind students that lack of attendence is not an excuse.
The class schedule (except for the final exam) is always tentative. If you miss class, be forewarned that a test or assignment
may be revised or rescheduled. It is your responsibility to find out what you missed (e.g., ask me via e-mail). If you miss
a test and would like a make-up, then an officially excused absence is required. If the absence is due to injury or illness,
then confirmation from a health care professional required per student rule 7.1.6.2b .
Services for Students with Disabilities
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) provides comprehensive civil rights protection for persons with disabilities.
Among other things, this legislation requires that all students with disabilities be guaranteed a learning environment that provides for reasonable accommodation of their disabilities.
If you believe you have a disability requiring an accommodation, please contact the Department of Student Life, Services for Students with Disabilities in Room 126 of the Koldus Building, 845-1637.
Please also see Dr. Pfister within the first three weeks of class.
To be eligible for services, a student must: (1) apply and be accepted for admission to Texas A&M University through the regular admissions process, (2) provide current and comprehensive documentation of a temporary or permanent disability which requires accommodation, and (3) register with SSD at the beginning of each semester.
