PCTeX Local Installation Notes
Before you install PCTeX, please be aware of these notes.
PCTeX General Notes
- If you want to use the eethesis class with PCTeX, download the
*.cls and *.sty files from below and place them in
c:\Pctexdir\latex2e (where Pctexdir is the directory in
which you installed PCTeX).
- When you begin your thesis, download the EE Thesis Template and
place it in a convenient directory on your system.
- If you want to update the version of LaTeX in PCTeX, please see
the PCTeX site
to download and install the appropriate files.
- If you are having problems, please try the PCTeX FAQ.
- I have a manual for PCTeX. If you need to borrow it, send email
and we can arrange a time to meet.
PCTeX32 for Windows 95/NT
- PCTeX can not use filenames with a space in the path. Do not
install PCTeX in a directory such as "Program Files" or keep documents
in such directories as "My Documents". PCTeX will not be able to find
the files because of the space.
- If you are experiencing strange behavior with PCTeX switching
between windows and a DOS screen, please try the following:
- Using Explorer, find a file in your windows 95 system subdirectory
called
CONAGENT.EXE.
- Right click on it and select "Properties" from the menu.
- Click on the "Screen" tab and set Usage to "Window".
PCTeX21 for Windows 3.1
- PCTeX21 for Win3.1 can not use filenames longer than 8 characters
plus a 3 character extension. If you use EE Thesis, the file
eethetitle.sty is too long for the Win3.1 operating
system. Rename the file to eethetit.sty and change the
\input eethetitle.sty line in eethesis.cls
to \input eethetit.sty.
