Introduction to the Department of Electrical Engineering’s Accreditation Efforts

    “The Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering Degrees at Texas A&M University are both accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, Inc. (formerly Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET).” (http://www.abet.org/)  ABET has established a set of criteria by which engineering programs are to be evaluated which is known as EC2000. 

    Along with this introductory page, there are several pages which describe the status of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department’s efforts regarding accreditation via the EC2000 criteria. The department administers the EE program and jointly administers the CE program. The following pages are included:

    Departmental Mission Statement Describes the overall long-term goals of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department.

    Program Objectives (EE Program and CE Program) States goals for the undergraduate program in terms of achievements of its students which would typically be seen within 2-5 years after graduation.  These objectives have been established in conjunction with and based on the needs of the various constituents of the department.

    Student Outcomes (EE Program and CE Program) States goals for the undergraduate program in terms of achievements of its students upon graduation. That is, each student should have achieved each of the student outcomes upon graduation from the department. These outcomes mirror the ABET EC2000 Criterion 3 outcomes along with the EE and CE specific program Criteria (ABET Criterion 9).
