ECE graduate student wins prestigious university award
Recently a graduate student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Texas A&M University was awarded the "Texas A&M University Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges 2008-2009" award.
Mohammad Asad Rehman Chaudhry, a Ph.D. student in the department, was given the award during the All-University Awards Ceremony on April 19th during Parent’s Weekend. The awards were presented by University President, Dr. Elsa Murano, Lt. Gen. Joe Weber, USMC (Ret), Dr. Bill Stackman and other dignitaries.
The “Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges” award is one of the most prestigious awards offered by Texas A&M to its students. The selection was done by a committee formed by the Vice President Student Affairs. The selection committee consisted of faculty, staff and students.
Chaudhry is a member of IEEE, INFORMS and he was selected a member of the Pinnacle National Honor Society by Texas A&M. Other honors include session winner and taxonomy level first place prize at Texas A&M’s Student Research Week 2009, session winner and taxonomy level second place prize at Texas A&M’s Student Research Week 2008 and he received a grant to attend the workshop “Next Generation Networks” at the Center for Discrete Mathematics and Theoretical Computer Science (DIMACS) at Rutgers University. His research interests include network coding and its applications, algorithmic and information-theoretic aspects of networking and algorithm design.
