Zhang named Distinguished Lecturer for IEEE VTS

Dr. Xi Zhang, Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Texas A&M University, has recently been selected to be the prestigious Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Vehicular Technology Society (VTS) Distinguished Lecturer.

Cui wins the prestigious 2012 SPS Best Paper Award

Dr. Shuguang (Robert) Cui from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Texas A&M University, recently was announced as the winner of the prestigious 2012 IEEE SP Society Best Paper Award.

ECE Professor, Dr. Serpedin elected to the rank of IEEE Fellow

Dr. Erchin Serpedin from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Texas A&M University was recently elected to the rank of Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).

ECE Professor, Dr. Kish receives honorary doctorate from the University of Szeged

Recently Dr. Dr. Laszlo Kish, a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Texas A&M University received the honorary doctorate title from the University of Szeged, Hungary. Dr. Laszlo Kish, was conferred the title "Doctor Honoris Causa" during a November ceremony at the University of Szeged for his "outstanding research work and achievements, as well as the impressive range of cooperation activities accomplished jointly with colleagues in favor of the university."

Russell Featured on NBC's Today Show Discussing Smoke Detector Inadequacies

Dr. B. Don Russell, the Harry E. Bovay, Jr. Endowed Chair Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Texas A&M University, said during a segment of The Today Show on October 3rd that the most common smoke detectors owned by 90 percent of households are ionization alarms, which detect small particle smoke from flames but not the deadly smoldering fires which produce a lot of smoke. In those fires ionization alarms don't work well, going off way too late — or not at all.
